You are a remarkable person, and this is one of the most remarkable things I have ever read. Thank you.

    • October 30, 2011 at 16:35

I didn’t make it, I am just posting it here because I was lucky enough to be able to find a complete version elsewhere and it needed to be put online in its complete form in a place people will find it.

  6. November 16, 2011 at 23:45

Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve been searching for the full version of this for MONTHS after finding the original link had died. Luckily, I was able to use google’s new “search by image” feature to pull up your page! You’ve done the world a service by keeping this comic alive. 🙂

The tears won’t stop coming? Really?? I think this is one of the funniest things I have ever seen, and I am one of those fools who is constantly quoting the Simpsons with my friends and family.

    • February 5, 2012 at 03:16

But his brother dies, don’t you find that tragic?

  12. January 11, 2012 at 21:54

An amazing comic! So simple and sad. The faces are genius.

  13. January 11, 2012 at 22:00

There’s one more page in the original – an end page with just clouds a la Simpsons end titles. If you could dig that up, that would wonderful. Of course thank you for simply preserving this.

I keep reading this comic, and I keep crying each time. I’ve never been affected this deeply before, by a comic or by any other medium, and this is truly something else.

This is one of the best comics in a long time!

One of the greastest comics/graphic novels is MAUS…just go to your local book store….highly recommend anything by Art Speigelman

  15. February 16, 2012 at 03:53

This is such beautiful, moving piece of art.

      October 22, 2012 at 04:09

Yeah I agree. If Sugar’s new show is delivered in this same way or has the same art style it will be a huge flop. And it’s a big deal since she is the first female animator with her own show on Cartoon Network… Supposedly.

      • March 25, 2013 at 14:26

Rebecca is an incredibly talented and versatile artist with a richness of sensitivity that makes me jealous.

      • November 26, 2013 at 05:30

If Steven Universe isn’t a hit, they’re not going to let women draw anymore.

reading those comments in 2016 with steven universe as one of the most popular shows on CN is the funniest thing

    • November 26, 2013 at 05:29

Well that stands to reason. I don’t think it’s going to resonate with people too young to remember classic Simpsons.

      • October 26, 2016 at 04:01

Ops, I’m coming from the future to tell you… Steven Universe is a freaking hit ❤

  23. November 19, 2012 at 05:40

    Unbelievable. Rebecca Sugar rules.

So… My brother said to me “read this, it’s awesome”. We both like the Simpsons and we like to quote them. I read it and I thought “this is fucking amazing”, so I went and told my brother. I said “That comic was fucking amazing!”. He said “Right? You know… When I read the comic you were the brother who has the car accident”. I could have been upset but I laughed and said “when I read it, YOU were that brother”. So… I guess we are two damn selfish bastards who love each other.

  28. October 29, 2013 at 04:43

This was so beautiful. Thank you for creating it and sharing it.

  29. November 4, 2013 at 21:57

Couldn’t really connect with this comic at all mostly due to the art style, it looks like either their faces are melting off, or what happens when you make a Mii with the express purpose of “let’s see just how ugly we can make it.”

I don’t feel like most of the people who said this was amazing actually get it. I say that because at face value this comic makes no sense. the deeper meaning lies in the essence of Alan as a fractured image of her memory. She loved him, and was never able to say exactly what she needed to when he left. the number 3 recurs often in the comic, the number 3, which they called triad, is the noblest of all digits, as it is the only number to equal the sum of all the terms below it, and the only number whose sum with those below equals the product of them and itself. the third row of the chapel, the three B’s, the three nothing at all’s, the 3 dental plans, the three that’s bad’s.. Rebecca loved Alan, and was never able to tell him so, because Alan is dead now, and she cannot bring him back. The older brother is a vehicle for her to set her emotions into love without missing him too much. the room, the city setting, the school setting, the chapel setting, the accident, the hospital setting… all of them are places where love is expected in different volumes to start happening in sequences. feelings of love and loss, this story isnt as simple as everyone is thinking it is..Rebecca is missing Alan, because he was her muse for Steven Universe.

Except her muse for the show was her relationship with her brother, Steven…

    • WTF
      October 21, 2016 at 20:59

Yes. Clearly nobody who interprets it at all differently from you could *actually* think it’s amazing, or understand anything. At face value it makes plenty of sense to anyone with a heart.

Why is your favorite gem garnet and this ended too early

    Love,your biggest fan

  35. February 3, 2016 at 01:20

You say complete yet you’re misssing 1~2 pages of the end.
The pages are semi inconsequential to the story, as theyre just pictures of clouds, but are very consequential to the general feeling! Cmonnnnn

I’m not sure what makes this is so great. I got to the end without feeling to sad for any of the characters — no more than usual.

And then I am still crying. Rebecca Sugar, what have you done to me?

The story is rather pleasant and somber. The art is extremely ugly and kinda ruins the mood but it’s a nice story nonetheless.

    2) Rebecca Sugar is a fucking genius, always has been, always will be
    3) The doctor is the spitting image of Ian Jones-Quartey.
